Sheldon Richards pours wines in his living room at the top of Spring Mountain.
Paloma Vineyard, founded by Jim and Barbara Richards in 1983, is a family-owned winery located at the top of Spring Mountain in Napa Valley. Known for its commitment to sustainable farming and multi-generational winemaking, Paloma produces award-winning Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon that reflect the unique terroir of the region. The winery's legacy continues through Sheldon Richards and his sons, who honor the family's dedication to quality and hospitality.
The 2019 Paloma Merlot earned 95 points from Master Sommelier Kevin M. Vogt, who called it the best vintage he'd tasted in decades. Home Sweet Home ($60) means exactly that—guests taste with owner and winemaker Sheldon Richards in his actual living room or out on his deck, depending on weather.

Paloma sits on a steep, tree-lined ridge at the very top of Spring Mountain, above the fog line. The drive up winds through dense forest before opening to views of the vine-carpeted valley floor far below. Tastings happen inside Sheldon's home, where the furniture and family photos make it clear this isn't a tasting room designed to look residential—it's where he actually lives.

Home Sweet Home ($60) is the entry experience, poured one-on-one by Sheldon Richards in his living room or on the deck overlooking the valley. The Barrel Tour Wine Aging Experience ($90) moves into the cellar to pour a decade's worth of Paloma wines, from barrel samples of the most recent harvest to older bottlings. Vineyard Walking Tour & Tasting ($75) covers the property over 90 minutes. The Harvest Grape Stomp ($90) runs during crush only.
