Why Stay Here

The Plaza Deluxe King Room sits directly above Spain Street, where you can watch the Saturday farmers' market vendors unpack heirloom tomatoes and listen to the evening wine-bar conversations drift up from the sidewalk. It's the best spot to feel the rhythm of the square without leaving your balcony.

  • Plaza King and Plaza Deluxe King rooms face the Sonoma Plaza directly
  • Executive Chef Armando Navarro leads farmers' market walks before six-course dinners
  • EDK Cantina serves takeaway tacos, enchiladas, and burritos daily noon to 8pm
  • Dogs and kids are welcome throughout the hotel and courtyard

The Experience

Executive Chef Armando Navarro changes the El Dorado Kitchen menu with whatever's ripe that week—sole roulade, lobster cannelloni, filet mignon on the Valentine's prix fixe, and tacos from the Cantina outpost when you want something faster. Most guests eat at the restaurant twice during their stay, once for the tasting menu if they've joined the morning farmers' market walk to Vella Cheese Company and the Farmers Patch. Dogs sleep under the courtyard tables, and kids wander between the fountain and the arcade without crossing any streets.

The Setting

El Dorado Hotel setting

El Dorado Hotel sits at the corner of 1st and Spain Street on the historic Sonoma Plaza, with balconies that hang over the sidewalk and face west toward the arcade storefronts. The hotel's upstairs rooms put you within earshot of street musicians and farmers' market banter, while the courtyard rooms pull back into quieter territory. EDK Cantina runs takeaway tacos and burritos on the Spain Street side, and the main restaurant opens directly onto the plaza pavement.
