The Experience
Breakfast at the Lodge starts with sourdough from Thorpe's starter and whatever greens are up that week; dinner runs to grilled steelhead and foraged mushrooms. Between meals, guests disappear—some to the spa for FLWR Napa Valley body treatments, some to the riverbank with a book, some to the fire pits that dot the property after sunset. The tents in the Grove come with real beds and heaters; the cabins have wood-burning stoves.
The Setting
The Russian River runs along the southern edge of the property, accessible by a short trail that drops through second-growth redwoods and ends at a private bend where guests swim in summer. Guerneville sits two miles downstream, but the ranch itself is bordered by forest on three sides. Chefs Juliana Thorpe and Ignacio Zuzulich run the kitchen at the Lodge, pulling herbs from the property and fish from local boats.
