The Setting
Sterling Vineyards sits 300 feet above the valley floor, accessible only by its aerial gondola. The white-washed buildings, designed to evoke the architecture of Mykonos, cluster around a series of terraces and walkways. From the Southview Terrace, Mount St. Helena rises to the north, and on clear days you can see across the valley to the Mayacamas range. Founded in 1964 by Michael Stone and Peter Newton, the property was built to make the winemaking process visible to visitors who walk through it.
The Tasting Experience
The Sterling Stroll is a self-guided walk through the production areas with five wines to taste as you go, priced at $55. For a seated format, the Tour & Terrace Experience starts with three wines inside, then moves to the Southview Terrace for two more wines and a cheese board, all for $85. The Founder's Experience, at $150, is the top-tier option, pairing winery-exclusive wines with food in a hosted format.
