Six generations of Mauritson farming in Dry Creek Valley since 1868.
Mauritson Wines has a rich history that dates back to 1868, when the Mauritson family began farming in the Dry Creek Valley. With a deep understanding of the unique micro-climates in the region, founder Clay Mauritson returned to his roots to create small-lot, handcrafted wines that reflect the essence of the land. Visitors can enjoy tastings in a picturesque setting overlooking the vineyards, making it a memorable experience for wine enthusiasts.
Clay Mauritson grew up working these vineyards as a teenager before returning to make wine from family parcels in Rockpile, a rugged AVA where his ancestors have farmed for over 150 years. His single-vineyard Rockpile releases appear in the Signature Flight, poured either overlooking the vineyards or down in the cellar.
Tastings happen in two locations: seated in a room that looks directly out over Dry Creek Valley vines, or below ground in the cellar where barrels and tanks frame the conversation. Either way, you're on property that's been in continuous Mauritson family use since Ulysses S. Grant was president. Winemaker Emma Kudritzki Hall and her team host by reservation, and the scale remains small-lot and hands-on.

The Signature Flight ($30) runs through Mauritson's handcrafted releases, with a focus on the Rockpile AVA bottlings—high-elevation, rocky-soil wines that anchor the family story. Depending on the day, you'll taste upstairs with vineyard views or downstairs among the fermentation gear and cooperage. Either location keeps the focus on what founder Clay Mauritson learned as a kid: how each microclimate across Dry Creek, Rockpile, and Alexander valleys behaves differently.
