A three-story 19th-century-style estate where the Vineyard King Suite patio sits steps from Oak Knoll vines.

Barbara Bestor's mid-century pavilion opened in 2017 to pour wines made in the 1960s Napa style.
Ashes & Diamonds Winery is a tribute to the Napa Valley of the 1960s, showcasing a blend of mid-century modern architecture and state-of-the-art winemaking. The winery emphasizes a philosophy of light-handed winemaking and transparency of terroir, producing a diverse range of wines that reflect both modern and traditional influences. Visitors can enjoy the unique landscape and the commitment to environmental stewardship that defines the estate's vineyards.
Wine production started in 2014 with a deliberate turn toward the lower-alcohol, lighter-extraction techniques that defined Napa before the Parker era. The A&D Rare Wines & Provisions tasting pours off-menu single-vineyard wines with 24-month Comté and triple crème cheeses, a format that makes sense when the wines themselves are built for the table rather than the score.

Barbara Bestor designed the winery as a flat-roofed, glass-walled pavilion that faces onto vineyards in the Oak Knoll District, a neighborhood where fog and bay breezes keep ripening slow. Inside, the aesthetic is pure 1960s California: terrazzo floors, walnut paneling, and furniture that would fit in a Neutra house. The tasting bar runs along one wall of glass, and the production space is visible through interior windows, so visitors watch barrels and fermentation tanks while they drink.

Tastings start at $45 for the A&D Teaser, a three-wine introduction to the club portfolio, and range up to $185 for the Wine + Food pairing that blends Ashkenazi Diaspora cooking with California Nouvelle technique. The $60 A&D Wines tasting pours four wines and takes place at the walnut bar or at tables on the outdoor terrace. Staff talk about extraction levels, fermentation vessels, and the winery's refusal to chase ripeness—details that matter when the whole project is built around restraint.
