José and Gloria Ferrer opened Carneros' first sparkling winery in 1982.
Gloria Ferrer Wines, founded in 1982 by José and Gloria Ferrer, is renowned for being the first sparkling winery in Carneros, California. The winery is committed to a 100-year-old tradition of crafting exceptional sparkling wines that reflect the unique character of the Carneros region, all while adhering to sustainable practices and a holistic approach to winemaking.
The Taste of Carneros ($62) pours four estate sparkling wines from vineyards that defined the region's sparkling wine reputation. The Reserve Expedition ($125) moves through vintage-dated Gloria Ferrer wines, a rare chance to taste how individual years express themselves in méthode champenoise bottles.

The winery building sits at the base of the Carneros hills with a wide terrace looking north across the estate vineyards toward San Pablo Bay. Inside, the tasting room has a long bar and tables near floor-to-ceiling windows. The production facility is visible from the main level, and the aging cellars below hold bottles during their second fermentation.

The Taste of Carneros ($62) is poured at the bar or at a table on the terrace, with staff walking through the estate's role in sparkling wine production. The Culinary Journey ($130) pairs wines with multiple courses, while the Three-Course Culinary Experience ($90) runs on weekdays. Servers tend to emphasize the difference between the brut, extra brut, and demi-sec styles in the lineup.
