The Setting
The château itself was modeled after the Taittinger family's 18th-century Château de la Marquetterie in Champagne, and it sits on a rise above the Carneros vineyards. The terrace overlooks estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay blocks that supply the winery's sparkling program. Inside, the tasting salon has tall windows and a sense of Old World formality without feeling stiff.
The Tasting Experience
Most visitors take the Sparkling Wine Sampler ($45) or the Red Wine Sampler ($45) at a table with views across the property. The staff walks you through the lineup, often pointing out which of the six estate vineyards contributed to each bottling. For something more involved, the Art of Sabrage ($125) lets you try your hand at opening a bottle with a saber, and the Ultimate Caviar Experience ($175) pairs estate sparklers with caviar by appointment weekdays.
